“Take that 7 minutes (meditation) a day. And nurture it like a little seedling and watch how it grows into the beautiful plant of oneness and watch how it oozes out into your life.”
This weeks guest is Mayank in New Zealand, he is first and foremost a yogi and meditator. He teaches Somatics, Restorative Movement & QiGong at the Wisdom of Meditation Centre in Te Horo, New Zealand.
Mayank and I discuss his story of growing up in a religious home and talk about the expanded meaning of the “G” word (GOD!). Mayank graciously shares his lifetime of study and meditation in India and how to live our awareness practically, in a life filled with many ups and downs.
In our talk, Mayank shares on how to “build the relationship” with meditation over time, so that “meditation does me, I don’t do meditation.”
Mayank is foremost a yogi and meditator. He teaches Somatics, Restorative Movement & QiGong at the Wisdom of Meditation Centre in Te Horo, New Zealand.
Like many health practitioners, Mayank began his journey as a patient. However, unlike most practitioners, he was living high in the Himalayas at the time. He spent most of his adult life there, meditating with an enlightened Being and imbibing the wisdom teachings from the Advaita Vedanta tradition.
Along with his teaching partner & lifelong friend Shikhaa, they run classes & retreats in New Zealand. Creating a full & balanced program of satsang, meditation, movement practises & kirtan.
Here’s our key moments:
- 16:05 God, Religion and Spirituality:
- 20:00 Meaning of the word GOD – “Now it’s time for that concept to fall away and for something new to come, which is much bigger and more glorious”
- 30:55 How we bring the shant into life – “it’s a slow maturing, there is no shortcut”.
- 35:30 “I NEED TO DO THE WORK – THIS IS MY PATH, MY TRIP. I NEED TO STAY FOCUSED. Slowly and surely it happens. It’s not smooth sailing.”
- 40:01 “The first person I’m teaching is me…and if someone wants to come join you then that’s one more flame to the fire and how beautiful is that.”
- 41:00 Build the relationship with meditation
- 50:13 “Add the dimension of who’s knowing WHO AM I?”
- 52:28 “I don’t do meditation, meditation does me.”
A great conversation, I hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!
