Magnus Fridh | The Art of Stillness in a Noisy World | S3 Ep 16

a Curious Yogi

“Buddhists always consider new people as friends. Not the other way around, we should see each other as friends. It makes the world a better place.”

In this episode, I’m talking to Magnus Fridh, a teacher of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation. Magnus is also one of the founders of The Mindfulness App. His latest book, “The Art of Stillness in a Noisy World” (Hardie Grant), is about how to find tranquillity and peace in everyday life.

Magnus started meditating in his teens and immersed himself in the subject through Tibetan Buddhism and university studies in Indology.

Magnus and I discuss the power of meditation to anchor us in life’s ups and downs, the many doorways into stillness, and both the science of meditation and the philosophy of compassion that can help get us out of rumination and into the ananda maya kosha. We also discuss trusting the hyper-focus of ADHD and how yoga off the mat in coming years in more important than ever.

Here are some high points:

➖ 8:52 Doors to silence and finding your way to stillness

➖ 16:03 Barriers to cultivating a daily practice

➖ 20:25 Bringing back Compassion

➖ 28:03 Anandamaya Kosha is the place to be

➖36:19 Getting free of rumination (the science and the bliss)

➖45:40 ADHD, Hyper-focus and Yoga….trusting it.

➖56:38 Importance of our shared humanity

A Curious Yogi

I’m really excited that you’ve made it here! So, what’s my mission? It’s to support you in uncovering your highest Self and living an expanded everyday life. It’s my mission because I spent 14 years as a lost, addicted, and depressed yogi. And, it wasn’t until I began to put tender, love and care into my daily personal practice, sadhana, that I began to unfold that state of bliss, which is Yog.

I’m here as your guide, and your friend, to help you integrate hath yog, pranaayam, meditation & yogic wisdom into your daily life so you can blossom too.

Hello, friends! I'm Bobbi.

And I'm a

curious yogi.
